This painting was created after tramping the Mt. Robert Circuit in the Nelson Lakes National Park in 2020.
On the ascent toward Angelus Hut, I paused at this spot — sitting, having breakfast, and taking in a half-rotten tree trunk already alive with new growth.
A beautiful sunset over Lake Angelus was the icing on the cake.
The return along the Mt. Robert Ridge the following day pushed me to my limits — I found myself almost praying — but it is an experience I would not want to miss.
