About Luane

Contemplating — a view from the porch, looking out over Golden Bay

Luane Brauner was born near Berlin and began drawing and painting at an early age. In 1998, she made the decisive move to become a self-employed artist.

In her thirties, she began exhibiting her work and, within a few years, established a strong reputation, with collectors acquiring her landscapes, portraits, and animal paintings.

In 2007, Luane moved to New Zealand. The landscape — especially the forests of the South Island — became a lasting source of inspiration. Her paintings are rooted in direct experience, often emerging from time spent in remote places, where atmosphere, stillness, and a sense of presence become visible.

Alongside her painting, she is currently working on her first book. She lives and works in Golden Bay, New Zealand.
